Don’t panic if you have to self isolate and still need money

This is going to be a very difficult time for a lot of people. Many people will be unable to work. The coronavirus/corvid 19 means that a lot of people have to find work that they can do from home. people with certain pre existing medical conditions such as COPD, cystic fibrosis or heart problems have been told to self isolate maybe for months and to avoid social contact.  If you are in this situation you will still need to pay your bills.

The world seems to have turned upside down in the last two weeks and we have been jolted out of our comfortable existence. I wanted to share this infographic from Jon at the money shed. He has created a list of online earning opportunities to help people get through this crisis. He also runs a very helpful and reliable forum where members share ideas for earning money at home. I know that many people will be unable to work as normal at this time and will be anxious for help. This must be especially worrying for people on zero hour contracts or who are members of the gig economy.

The Money Shed

Jon has a lot of helpful links to companies offering work from home opportunities. There may be things you have not thought you could do like website testing or teaching English. Every month money shed members are encouraged to post their success stories and he even offers small prizes to members. You won’t find get rich quickly schemes or multilevel marketing. Instead you will find every thing from filling in 50p surveys to recording audio to help develop voice recognition for artificial intelligence. He also has a lot of free resources for bloggers and help to start your own blog if you would like to. Some members are able to earn a full time income.

  1. You said it well, Anne, on how the world has turned upside down. This is helpful advice. You remind me how this is a time where thinking outside of the box really helps. Thank you for sharing and keep yourself healthy.

    1. We are fine and luckily have our pensions. I don’t think booking a holiday to Italy in June was a good move. Apparently disinclination to travel because of a pandemic is not sufficient reason to claim on your insurance. Look after yourselves as well.

I would love to hear from you.
