Much of the UK is now slowly coming out of the third national lockdown. As you might expect, most people haven’t been able to do much outside their homes due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions imposed on the nation.
Many people will have had a lot of time on their hands. As you can imagine, having a lot of free time means you’ve got plenty of opportunities to tackle things off your to-do lists that you may have put off for a while!
For we all fall down then stand up straight and tell the stories that we tell to prove, we've lived through things that few have seen before. So raise your voice to lift the lockdown weight. Ian Mc Millan sonnet 3
What have you been up to during the latest lockdown? You’ll have likely ticked at least one of the following things off this list:
1. You Made a Will
It’s no secret that managing a deceased person’s estate can be challenging if they’ve not made a will. These days, it’s pretty straightforward to have a will made, and it doesn’t cost a lot of money to create.
Lockdown is the perfect time to create wills. They can cover subjects like burials and cremations, how property and assets should get distributed, and who receives the proceeds of life insurance policies.
2. You Sold Loads of Stuff on eBay
Another good use of time during lockdown is going through your worldly possessions and getting rid of items you no longer want or need. It’s so easy to sell items on eBay, especially using the site’s smartphone apps for Android and iOS.
You’ve probably sold quite a few things on eBay recently and now have some money to spend on pampering or spoiling yourself!
3. You Reconnected With Relatives
Life can be busy and hectic at the best of times, and it’s all too easy to lose contact with relatives – particularly ones that live far away from you. Lockdown, of course, has restricted people from seeing their loved ones in person.
However, technology allows everyone to have video chats with each other. And if you’re not a technology buff, you probably took the time to write your relatives lots of deep and meaningful letters you sent to them by post. (I have made a resolution to try to keep this up when life returns to normal.)
4. You Reorganised Your Home
Something that most, if not all, people have done during this current lockdown is taken some time to reorganise certain aspects of their homes. For example, you may have better organised your music collection and arranged it in alphabetical order or by genre.
Or, you might have given each room in your home a mini-makeover and moved some furniture around!
5. You Started a New Hobby
Being stuck at home and getting told you can only leave if you need to buy groceries or go to work is not much fun. But, having the extra time during lockdown may have meant you took up a new hobby or two.
6. You Spent More Time in Your Garden
Lastly, have you been meaning to devote lots of quality time to your garden but simply haven’t had the time? Thanks to the current lockdown, you’ve probably given your garden a makeover and got it ready for summer.
