I am delighted to have been accepted as an affiliate by Give as you Live, an award winning platform that allows people to add a donation to a U.K. charity while doing their normal online shopping. It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up and anyone can do it. Even better, It does not cost you anything to donate as the donations come from the retailer not the customer.

For the past ten years I have volunteered for a couple of mornings a week in a local charity shop for Young Lives Versus Cancer. It is a cause close to my heart as my mother died from cancer having first suffered from it as a teenager. During our various lockdowns charity shops were not allowed to trade and our fundraising was seriously affected. Like many charities we had to cut staff and services. Sadly this meant we could give less help to children and young people with cancer and their families.

Most charities are probably in a similar position and are desperate to raise extra funds. One  simple way you can help is to join Give As You Live. #

How Give as You Live works

Give as you live is free for both charities and supporters to join.   So far the scheme has raised over £15 million pounds for U.K. charities. You can just visit the website and choose a charity, give a few details and you are ready to donate. it only takes a couple of minutes.   You can choose from over 20,000 different U.K. charities from large charities like Oxfam to local school and church groups. Over 5,500 retailers have also signed up including major brands like Tesco’s, Boots, Sainsbury’s and Marks and Spencers. Give as you live also has  Apps for I phone and android. From your handy dashboard, just click on the retailer you want to buy from and you’ll be directed to their website where you can continue to shop as normal. Your purchase will automatically generate a donation for your chosen charity.  You can also find retailers offering voucher codes or ways to make a free donation  from the dashboard.

As a thankyou for Give as you Live sending them sales the stores pay the site a commission. 50% of this is passed on to the charity as a donation and the other 50% is used to fund and grow the site. The dashboard will tell you the exact amount the charity will receive from your shop.

Is it legitimate?

Give as you Live is registered with both the fund raising regulator and the chartered institute of fundraising.
