Make more money on rideshare

When it comes to ways of making money, it’s always a good idea to look at what resources you might have available at your disposal, especially if others don’t have them. Your car is a prime example. Rideshare apps such as Uber and Lyft have exploded in popularity over the last decade and they have attracted a lot of drivers, but how do you make sure you’re earning as efficiently as possible when using them?

Be available at the right times

The busier the app is, the more money you’re going to be able to use for each job. To that end, you want to make sure that you’re available in highly trafficked areas during the peak times of the day. This usually means busy city centres and transport hubs like airports and train stations. You should also look at local events calendars for things like sporting events and concerts as you can often catch customers making their way to or from them.

Try a referral strategy

Your earnings don’t all have to be related to Uber or Lyft, either. You can also look at referral programs that can earn you a little more money for directing customers their way. Both rideshare apps will offer some cash for recruiting other drivers with the app. However, there are other referral apps that you could get some passive income from. For instance, with apps like Rakuten, you could advertise a code for a deal in your car. You don’t have to push it on customers, but many of them may check out of curiosity, which can bump up your earnings now and then.

Cutting the costs of keeping it going

Aside from finding ways to make more money from more work, you should make sure that you’re keeping more of the money you get from driving. Most important is avoiding hefty repair costs associated with the increased usage of your vehicle. To that end, finding a team that provides regularVauxhall servicing can be key to keep your Vauxhall in the best condition and avoiding the sting of big repair bills down the way. Whatever brand your car, be sure to find the team that specializes in them to keep them healthier for longer.

Be sure to use the app to its fullest extent

Whichever drive service you’re with, the app can be useful for a lot more than simply finding jobs. For instance, on the Uber app, you can confirm more requests more quickly, set up back-to-back rides in high demand days, and respond between rides to feedback, which can help you keep your rating up high. Of course, proper maintenance of the car’s interior helps you keep your driver rating up, as well.

Whether you only make it a part-time gig or you decide to do it more seriously, becoming a rideshare app driver is a great way to make a little extra cash. However, you should always be on the lookout for ways to optimise those earnings as you keep it up.

  1. This would certainly be an interesting avenue for those able to do it. I know the pandemic will have hit all forms of travel, but I imagine in future private rides rather than bigger, busier public transport options will likely be more sought after.xx

    • I think there will be a lot of people needing to make money from the gig economy. At present our buses are telling people only to use them for essential journeys so if you don’t have a car you are a bit stuck.
