4 Ways To Make Your Workspace More Comfortable

comfortable workspace

As the message for many people to work from home continues, it is now more important than ever that we have comfortable work and study spaces within our homes. Even if you are not currently working from home, having a comfortable designated working space will be great for working on any hobbies you have, such as writing poetry, blogging or doing jigsaws. Some minor changes to your workspace will make you happier and increase your productivity!

Make your workspace personal

This does not necessarily mean that your designated workspace has to be covered in all of your favourite family photographs; instead, it is more about making your space personal whilst keeping it clear from clutter. This could mean displaying your favourite photo at the corner of your desk and having a bright and colourful cushion on your chair. You could also choose your favourite coaster and mug to make you feel at home. All of these little things will make your workspace feel more personalised and homely, without taking up too much space.

Invest in air conditioning

It can be particularly uncomfortable trying to work from home in the sweltering heat, and this will become an issue for many of us as we begin to move into the summer months. So it may be worth considering investing in an air conditioning system, which will help keep you cool as you work at your desk. If you are worried about the maintenance and upkeep of air conditioning, there is no need to worry when many companies offer 24 Hour AC Service. A local company such as this Huntsville AL AC repair provider should offer a quick friendly and reliable service. This means that you will always have someone on hand to help if you require it. Obviously, you do not need to only use your air conditioning when you are working from home, so this is an investment that you will appreciate all summer long.

Avoid buying a plant

It may be particularly tempting to buy a cute little cactus or flower for your desk but avoid doing so. It can become a distraction for those struggling to find the motivation to complete their work, and plants just clutter up space. Perhaps a better idea is to get a small fake plant so that there is no chance of you feeling the need to spend ten minutes watering and feeding it in an attempt to procrastinate. You can buy fake plants from most garden centres, and they will have a wide range on offer, so you are bound to find something to suit the aesthetic of your room. On the other hand, if you love house plants as I do you might find plenty of ideas to brighten up the rest of your house and garden.

Make sure you are always cosy in your workspace

It can be just as challenging to work efficiently at home when you are too cold in winter as it is to work in the summer when you are too hot. For this reason, you should always keep a cardigan or a jumper on the back of your seat at your desk, so you can easily pull it on should you find yourself growing cold. You could also keep a pair of slippers under your desk and a spare blanket in the same room. After all, what are the benefits of working from home if not staying cosy and comfortable as you work?

  1. Valuable information in this post, Anne. I find I make my workspace cozy by warming up some heating pads and placing my feet/socks on the pads when I work. Especially, first thing in the morning. A great post!
